When you trying to download a torrent using your brand new Dialog HSDPA what it has given to you? A super speed downloads within seconds’ urrrrrrrrr I guess it is not. It is super slow just like a dialup isn’t it? Yes there is a damn reason behind it. Because simply, they have reduced your speed for downloading torrents. Just because torrents are heavily attack every user in the network by taking the whole bandwidth. But still we can do few simple things to get rid of this. You may want to know how?
Yes, it’s easy, do the following settings to your torrent downloading software
1) Go to preferences of your torrent downloading software and pick the “connection” tab and change the incoming port to “8080”
2) Go to bandwidth tab and change upload speed to “1” and download to “0” (0=unlimited)
3) Go to bit torrent tab and make encryption “forced”
Ok we have done it. These settings will only affect dialog HSDPA. I have not tested on wimax. Anyway the first 15-20 minutes will be very slow but later it will get better and you will get well over 160KBps. So you will be able to download a movie within 2-3 hours.
Here I am downloading two torrents with a great speed within very low upload: download ratio. But this will only happen if you have enough peers and seeds.
That’s coooool enough. But be mindful about your usage, because you have signed a FUP and they really cutting down the speed if you have exceeded the limits. That’s all about the torrents don’t blame your connection you can make it work!

Nice article. But doesn’t limiting the upload speed in uTorrent also limit the download speed? It used to be like that for older versions – don’t know how it is for v1.7 and 1.8 (been using Azureuz).
November 13, 2008 at 4:33 pm |
In HSDPA the upload ration does not make a effect.but it matters in ADSL.
i am still trying Azureuz i am new to it.
November 13, 2008 at 4:50 pm |
Yeah i tried it on ADSL so that may have been the case. For best download speeds try a private torrent tracker. Most private trackers require you to upload back and maintain a minimum ratio which is not possible in your case. Try a ratio free private tracker you won’t be disappointed with the speeds.

yaa i have never used ADSL. thats why i am not familiar with it. anyway this will help all the dialog HSDPA users.

[...] I heard Bit torrent is quite a pain on Dialog HSPA & my friend CeeVee has the solution [...]

limiting your upload speed to one is bad machan. in a swarm where you have many leechs and less seeds you will get very slow speeds. most bittorrent clients will not upload much to you(while they are leechs, still downloading…) if they are not getting a good upload rate from you. and ethically its not at all a good idea to limit your upload to 1kbps!!!
cheers!
November 22, 2008 at 3:37 pm |
@yasith i have mentioned that this is for Dialog users. we should limit our uploads as we are signed up a FUP. anyway i have checked this by setting upload speed auto but it never rise than 2KBps.Ethically it may be not good but what else to do we have only 6GB access.thanks bro.

Im using a HSDPA connection, but this doesnt seem much of a help i have 900seeders, 74 leechers on the torrent im downloading but speed of download remains from 2-10kbps..:( is there another way for HSDPA users to increase, can HSDPA users setup port or something because there is this red buttons on the bottom or sometimes it changes to yellow with an exclaimation mark..
November 30, 2008 at 5:35 am |
@ jason
If you are getting 2-10KBps there should be some other problem.the status would not affect the speed, i have got over 100KBps within yellow exclamation.Try to change your torrent downloading software

im using utorrent bro, and its also exclaimation mark, and the highest i can get is 50kbps, are there any ways to open port using HSDPA Modem connection?? Because I go to portforward.com, my public IP address is different from the IP address in the IPCONFIG when it shows in the START>RUN>COMMAND.. So I was thinking probably I can setup a port.. BEcause i’m trying to make the status light=green so people can connect to me,so its even faster..

hmm basically it worked for me, but actually depends on seeders and leechers but i tend to get highest is 80-100kbps.. not over than that, and some unlucky occasions i will get 0.1kbps.. thought they are like 200-300 seeders seeding me..=.=

hey man..luks prty useful….is this necessary for mobitel HSDPA as well?? ( purchased a 7.2 Mbps yesterday)
December 7, 2008 at 3:16 pm |
@VS i don’t think it is needed for Mobitel
any way port number 8080 will not give a much effect on Mobitel

does this work with any servies provider?? if not, is there a way to figure out the correct port for my provider??
June 1, 2009 at 2:45 pm |
these settings are working for most of HSDPA connections. BTW who is your service provider
June 4, 2009 at 8:35 am |
Actually i’m from saudi arabia. my provider is STC. it seems to me that the torrent download is blocked, i cant download with a speed more than 3 kbps.
June 5, 2009 at 12:09 pm |
ya it’s true many service providers block torrent downloading, here in Sri Lanka also we face to it thats why we concern these settings . you can give a try with this , as i am not so sure about whether will it work for you . good luck
June 6, 2009 at 8:41 pm
Thanks, it is working but the there is a red sign indicating that there is somthing wrong in the connection. the highest speed i got is about 35 kbps, but i think that’s because my network coverage it bad .. i guess there is no sulotion for that huh ;p. anyways thanks for the help
June 13, 2009 at 2:00 pm |
hey machan… got anything for Airtel..??? dat 8080 dosnt seem to work on dis… got anything for dat dude.. thanx for da work….
August 13, 2009 at 10:50 am |
Well the speed also depends on how much seeders and leechers are there. If there’s just one seeder and a 100 leechers u can bet ur hsdpa it won’t go higher than 20kb. Thanks for the tip anyways i’m trying it right now
